Even if you do not suffer from neck or back pain, these poses are still beneficial.  Yoga helps to improve flexibility, strengthen the core and promote relaxation.  Yoga is all about the total mind-body connection.  Breathing plays a huge role in this connection.

Have you ever noticed that when you exercise, you forget to breathe? I know that is something that I have always struggled with.  Yoga helps you to become more mindful about your breathing. This helps to fuel your muscles with oxygen, allowing you to push harder in your workouts.  This also improves your breathing techniques during times of stress.  This will help you to have better control over your stress and anxiety.

If you are new to yoga and need some instruction to follow, I highly recommend trying one of Ashley Turner’s DVDs.  She is an amazing instructor.  I always feel amazing when I am done with one of her DVDs.  (Links Below)

I hope you give some of these yoga poses a try, especially if you suffer from chronic aches and pains. Yoga has the power to do some pretty amazing things. Let me know how these poses work out for you.  If you are already experienced with yoga, what are some of your favorite yoga poses?
